Mountaineers even series against baseball 'Bows

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The West Virginia Mountaineers defeated Hawaii at Les Murakami Stadium on Friday night, 4-1, to even the weekend series against the Rainbow Warriors.

WVU pitcher Ross Vance (3-0) earned the win for the Mountaineers, giving up just one run on four hits through 7 innings of work. Michael Grove was credited with the save, his first of the season.

'Bows pitcher Kyle Von Ruden threw 91 pitches in 8 innings but took his first loss of the young season, allowing four hits on nine runs. Von Ruden also struck out four and walked a pair of Mountaineer batters.

Right fielder Alex Fitchett scored Hawaii's lone run of the night, batter home by designated hitter Casey Ryan.
