HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The Blood Bank of Hawaii is asking Oahu residents to consider giving blood after the organization had to cancel three events in dengue-affected areas on Hawaii Island.

The blood bank cancelled three drives in West Hawaii because of the dengue threat. The drives would have collected some 238 pints of blood.

To make up for the deficit, Oahu residents who have never given blood or who haven't given in some time are being asked to donate.

Drives are scheduled for March 9, 10 and 11 at the Blood Bank of Hawaii's Dillingham Boulevard headquarters.

Donation buses will be set up in the parking lot from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on March 9 and 10, and from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on March 11.

To donate or for more information, visit the blood bank's website.
