SAND ISLAND, OAHU (HAWAIINEWSNOW) - The Honolulu Fire Department says the cause of a four-alarm fire that ripped through a warehouse in Sand Island remains undetermined due to the extensive damage and manner in which the fire began.
On Saturday, 24 emergency companies and 70 personnel responded shortly after midnight to find a large commercial warehouse off Sand Island Access Road engulfed in flames. Two businesses which occupied the warehouse, Erik Builders and Niu Nursery, were impacted by the blaze. However, no injuries were reported.
A fire investigator analyzed all possible causes of the fire, but said there wasn't enough information to identify a specific cause or to eliminate other possible causes. The case has been closed but can be reopened if HFD receives additional information about the fire.
The damage has been estimated at $2.2 million, according to HFD.
