HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The first in a series of cold fronts will bring a few showers for Kauai through Maui Sunday night through Monday afternoon, with a second front expected Tuesday. Winds will remain light on Monday and then become locally breezy north winds as the second front moves through the islands. Rainfall totals are not expected to be heavy.
Surf for north and west shores will remain high overnight before falling below advisory levels by Monday morning. However, another northwest swell will push wave heights back up by Monday night into Tuesday, with an extra-large swell forecast to arrive Tuesday night. For now, a High Surf Advisory remains up for north and west shores, along with a Small Craft Advisory for coastal waters exposed to the current swell, until 6 a.m. Monday. Expect those to be extended or reinstated Monday for the next arriving swell.
