HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaiian Electric has filed an update on its plans for the future which still contains something you might have thought had been taken off the table – an undersea power line between Oahu and Maui. The filing appears to communicate an interest in further study, not determination to build one.

Duane Shimogawa of Pacific Business News reports the Airport Center, an office building on Ualena Street, will be auctioned off next month with a starting bid of $3.5 million.

Lee Imada of the Maui News spotted this in a PUC filing – Maui Electric left a record 10% of available wind power unused in 2015. At the same time, the amount it used was a record.

The Garden Island newspaper reports Kauai planning officials are giving more time to the developers of the Coco Palms hotel. At this point their permits are in jeopardy if they're not at work by April 26.

Honolulu car dealer Mark Benson, who owns land on the road to Mt. Hood, Oregon, is offering land for free to anyone who will put a brewpub and restaurant on it.
