Forecast: Surf subsides slightly, but still dangerously large

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The massive waves are a little smaller today, but not much. The surf along north and west shores is still posing a danger to life and property. Please use extreme caution along north and west shorelines and watch for waves/debris on coastal roads. The National Weather Service official forecast calls for waves to be 30-40 feet north, 18-25 feet west, 6-8 feet east, 1-3 feet south.

Weather is cool and comfortable today. Morning temperatures are in the low- to mid-60s in many neighborhoods. The afternoon high in Honolulu will be 79 degrees. There are a few lingering showers this morning, but almost all are off shore. Land breezes or drainage winds should keep those showers at bay. Afternoon heating will create sea breezes and perhaps a few interior clouds/showers.

High Surf Warning for north and west shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai and north shores of Maui, Big Island.

High Surf Advisory east shores Oahu and west shores Maui, Big Island.

Small Craft Advisory all coastal and channel waters.

Caution to Mariners for harbors with northern exposure due to harbor surges and waves breaking at harbor entrances.
