Search efforts end for missing Big Island diver

PUAKO, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Coast Guard and the Hawaii county Fire Department crews ended their search efforts for a missing diver on Saturday.

Crews searched roughly 3,900 square miles for 69-year-old Diana Wolking, who was a cyclist and long-time steerswoman for the Keoua Canoe Club.

Wolking was last seen entering the water at Puako Beach with scuba gear just before sunset on Wednesday.

"She'd go put on her tank and go dive by herself, burn a tank then come back up and get on her bicycle and ride up the hill," said Rafael Ramirez, President of the Keoua Canoe Club.

Friends say Wolking is survived by her son, daughter, grandson and sister.

Memorial services are still pending.
