A cold front will bring breezy winds and passing showers over the state Sunday, followed by drier conditions and cooler temperatures to start the new work week. Westerly winds could reach 15 to 25 miles per hour with higher gusts for most areas Sunday. Winds will lighten up and become northerly Monday.
A High Surf Warning will take effect at 6 p.m. for dangerous surf that could bring significant coastal flooding to north and west shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu and Molokai, and the north shores of Maui. Surf will rise rapidly tonight to 45 to 55 feet for north shores and 25 to 35 feet for west shores in the warning area.
A Wind Advisory is posted for the summit areas of Maui and the Big Island until 6 a.m. Monday. West winds of 35 to 45 miles per hour with gusts to 65 miles per hour are possible.
