KANEOHE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Kaneohe Thai restaurant is being fined $7,000 for taking down a yellow "conditional pass" placard, after state officials found food safety violations at the establishment.
Chao Phya Thai Restaurant, at the Windward City Shopping Center, was issued a yellow placard on Feb. 2 after inspectors found five major food safety violations.
The violations included improper food storage and inadequate employee hygiene.
At a follow-up inspection on Feb. 4, the yellow placard was not posted, and inspectors still found major food safety violations.
On Feb. 8, a second follow-up inspection found no major violations and a green placard was posted at the eatery.
