The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team heads back out on the road this week, playing a pair of Big West Conference games at CSUN on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7:00 p.m. PT (5:00 p.m. HT) and UC Irvine on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 8:30 p.m. PT (6:30 p.m. HT) in a nationally televised game on ESPNU.
The 'Bows (20-3, 9-1 BWC) are coming off a pivotal week. This past Thursday they turned their Big West showdown with UC Irvine into a laugher to take over sole possession of first place, then defended their hold on the top spot two days later against Cal State Fullerton, a team that had taken them to overtime one month earlier.
The win against the Titans gave Hawai'i its 20th of the season, the first back-to-back 20-win seasons in 18 years, and improved its league record to 9-1, the best since 2002 when the team went 11-1 before taking its second loss.
The 'Bows, once again receiving votes in both the AP and USA Today polls, have spent most of the season as the Big West's top offensive team. They lead the league in points per game (78.8) and field goal percentage (.462) and are beating their opponents by a conference-best 12.4 points.
Point guard Roderick Bobbitt continues to get it done on both ends of the court, averaging league highs of 5.5 assists and 2.3 steals. He enters the week needing just 10 steals to equal a program record (160) for steals in a career.
