Forecast: High winds and passing showers across the state

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A windy Wednesday underway. The National Weather Service says the northeast winds will be consistently in the 15-30 mph range and gusts will reach 50 mph is some neighborhoods. A Wind Advisory is posted for all islands.

The band of showers that dampened Oahu overnight and this morning is now moving over the islands of Maui County. The Big Island will be next later this morning. Expect passing showers throughout the day with some leeward sunshine.

The high today in Honolulu will be 81 degrees.

The wind swell along east shores continues to be dangerous today. Waves are smaller elsewhere. The NWS forecast calls for 6-10 feet east, 4-8 feet north, 3-5 feet west, and 1-2 feet south.

A High Surf Advisory is in effect for most east shores.

A Small Craft Advisory is posted for almost all channel and coastal waters.

A Gale Warning is effective for Pailolo and Alenuihaha channels, coastal waters southwest and southeast of Hawaii Island, and all waters more than 45 miles offshore.
