HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Strong, gusty tradewinds will persist through Thursday, backing off on Friday. Gusts upwards of 50 mph are possible tonight, up to 45 mph through Thursday. Look for a few more passing showers tonight and tomorrow from a weak shearline moving through the state.
The winds are kicking up east-side surf. Waves will be dangerously big along east coastlines. Please stay off the rocks and well back from crashing surf. Wave forecast from the NWS calls for 6-10 feet east, 6-10 feet north, 3-6 feet west, 1-3 feet south.
High Surf Advisory for east shores of most islands.
Small Craft Advisory for most waters.
Gale Warning for Alehuihaha channel and coastal waters along the Big Island's southeast and southwest coasts. Also all Hawaii waters 45 miles offshore.
Wind Advisory for all islands. Gusts could reach 50 mph.
