HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Windy weather today through Wednesday, maybe Thursday. National Weather Service forecasters say northeast winds will be 15 to 30 mph with gusts to 45 mph or greater today. Even stronger winds in some spots.

Passing showers will ride in on the trades and dampen windward and mauka neighborhoods primarily, occasionally spreading leeward.

The high in Honolulu today will be 83 degrees.

The winds are kicking up east-side surf. Waves will be dangerously big along east coastlines. Please stay off the rocks and well back from crashing surf. Wave forecast from the NWS calls for 6 to 10 feet for east shores, 6 to 10 feet for north shores, 3 to 6 feet for west shores, and 1 to 3 feet for south shores.

A High Surf Advisory is in effect for east shores of most islands.

A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for most waters.

There’s a Gale Warning for Alehuihaha channel and coastal waters along the Big Island's southeast and southwest coasts. Also all Hawaii waters 45 miles offshore.

A Wind Advisory is up for Lanai and Kahoolawe. Gusts there could reach 50 mph.
