HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Strong northeast winds will be creating high surf for east-facing shores of the Hawaiian islands this week, according to the National Weather Service.
Due to the high winds, a High Surf Advisory has been posted for east shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island. The advisory remains in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday.
Forecasters said surf along east-facing shores will reach 6 to 10 feet.
Beachgoers should expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents that will make swimming difficult and dangerous.
