NAPILI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A car fire set off dry brush on Maui on Sunday.
The incident happened about 1:23 p.m. near Maui Preparatory Academy.
About an acre had burned by the time firefighters arrived.
Crews, with the help of a helicopter, were able to get the fire under control by 4:12 p.m., at which time about five acres had burned.
The fire was extinguished at 7 a.m. Monday, when crews were certain no smoldering grass remained.
