HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - University of Hawaii forwards Aaron Valdes and Sai Tummala each notched double-doubles against Cal State Fullerton on Saturday night as the Rainbow Warriors defeated the Titans, 76-59.
The win, Hawaii's twentieth of the season, marks the third straight year in which the 'Bows have crossed the 20-win milestone. The Rainbow Warriors improved to 20-3 on the season, with a 9-1 mark in the Big West conference.
Fresh off what was perhaps their best performance of the season, the 'Bows started with zest on Saturday night, running out to a 20-3 lead early in the contest before the Titans closed the margin to single-digits. Hawaii led 40-31 at the half, thanks to a defensive effort that limited CSUF to 35.7% shooting.
In addition to the pair of double-doubles, three other Rainbow Warriors scored in fouble figures; Stefan Jankovic (16), Quincy Smith (15), and Roderick Bobbitt (12).
Hawaii next heads onto the road for a game against Cal State Northridge before a rematch with U.C. Irvine.
