HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A motorcycle crash shut down eastbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway near the University Avenue off-ramp on Thursday night.
According to the Honolulu Police Department, a 20-year-old man from Schofield Barracks was speeding and weaving through traffic on his motorcycle around 8 p.m. when he hit the back of a car. He then slammed into the center concrete median.
The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital in critical condition, but was later reported to be in good condition, police said.
The 61-year-old male driver of the other car was not injured, but his 57-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries.
Police said speed was a factor, but it's unknown if drugs or alcohol are involved. It's also not known if the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
Police are continuing to investigate.
