HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Light winds this morning then trades return this afternoon. They will be light at 10 to 15 mph and may blow a few showers our way this evening.

Sunshine will rule the day and the high in Honolulu will reach 80 degrees for the first time this week.

An approaching front will bring us a muggy and perhaps voggy weekend. Enjoy the breezes today.

The swell finally got big late yesterday afternoon. It was too late for the Eddie, but still dangerously large. The peak came and went overnight so the waves will be dropping as the day progresses. The National Weather Service says waves this morning will be 25 to 35 feet for north shores, 17 to 25 feet for west shores, 3 to 5 feet for east shores, and less than 2 feet for south shores.

A High Surf Warning is in effect for north and west shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, and Molokai; north shores of Maui; and west shores of Hawaii Island. A High Surf Advisory has been posted for north shores of Hawaii Island.

A Small Craft Advisory is issued for all channels and most coastal waters. Seas will be 14 to 17 feet. Caution to harbors with northern exposure due to harbor surge and waves breaking in entrances.
