Honolulu police are blocking multiple eastbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway near the Kaonohi Street overpass due to a vehicle accident.

Traffic cameras are showing a major backup on the freeway. As a result, the state Department of Transportation said the zipper lane will be open to all commuters to help alleviate congestion.

Police and firefighters are on scene to clean up a possible oil or fluid spill on the freeway.

No injuries have been reported.
