More than 50 members of the Hawaii Air National Guard have been deployed to the country to Qatar, in the Persian Gulf, to assist in the fight against ISIS.
Three KC-135 stratotankers left Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam over the weekend for Al Udeid Air Base where the U.S. runs all of its air operations for the middle east.
Their mission, as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, is to refuel coalition aircraft that attack Islamic State targets in Iraq and Syria.
These Hawaii residents are expected to be flying around enemy airspace.
The names of the guard members are not being released for safety against threats or cyber threats from ISIS.
