HILO, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Among news releases about traffic fatalities and drug arrests, Hawaii County Police on Monday put out a public plea: If you’ve seen a very particular pair of boxing gloves, please help us out.

The boxing gloves in question are signed by boxers and referees who participated in the 1984 Olympic Games. That’s important to sports buffs because the U.S. Olympic boxing team is considered one of the best squads in U.S. history.

There’s no word, though, on who signed the Everlast boxing gloves. And Hawaii County police didn’t say how much the gloves are estimated to be worth.

Police did say the gloves were taken from a home in Hawaiian Beaches last month.

If you see them, police would like to hear from you. You can call the police non-emergency line at 935-3311 or CrimeStoppers at 961-8300.
