Large quake shakes Solomon Islands, but no tsunami threat for Hawaii

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A large earthquake struck near the Solomon Islands Monday morning, but it was not strong enough to generate a tsunami threat to Hawaii, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

The quake, which happened around 7:20 a.m. HST, was initially measured at a magnitude of 6.7.

No injuries or damages were immediately reported.
