More than 95 graduate students from 21 nations will gather next week at the East-West Center for the Conference on Asia Pacific Research. It is the largest meeting of its kind worldwide. Keynoter will be Amanda Ellis, New Zealand's ambassador to the United Nations, on the new global development agenda for the next 15 years.

DLS - Diagnostic Laboratory Services - Hawaii's only local clinical testing labs - completes clinical trials on a new blood test that better detects salmonella, norovirus and other food borne pathogens. In addition to Hawaii, trials were conducted in Nebraska, Ohio and Rhode Island.

Capt. Chuck Jones joins the board of the USS Missouri Memorial Association. Jones is a retired Booz Allen partner and once commanding officer of what is now Joint Intelligence Operations Center Pacific.

Kona Red says its products have been selected for continued sale in more than 400 Target stores nationwide. Kona Red products are also sold in Safeway, Whole Foods and 7-Eleven.

Starwood brings back its annual Ocean Promotion - discounts up to 30% and daily breakfast for two at all 11 of its Hawaii properties. It starts the day after Valentine's Day and runs for the rest of the year.
