HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Increasingly muggy and voggy as our Aloha Friday progresses.
Winds will be light and variable locally, but the overall SE flow will bring humid air and volcanic haze up the island chain. There will be considerable sunshine, albeit fuzzy with today's high in Honolulu a warm 83 degrees.
The National Weather Service says a small northwest pulse today will bring waves of 6 to10 feet for north shores and 3 to 6 feet for west shores. East shores will be 2 to 4 feet and south shores at 1 to 3 feet. A large northwest swell is due on Sunday and a very large northwest swell is expected on Wednesday.
No marine or weather advisories are posted, but the National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement to prepare us for strong winds that will develop this weekend as a cold front moves across the island chain.
By late Saturday, northerly winds will be 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph. Sunday winds will ease slightly but still be in the 15 to 30 mph range with stronger gusts. Those with outdoor activities on Super Bowl Sunday should prepare accordingly.
