HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A wet morning across Oahu. Showers are dampening roads, so it would be a good idea to leave early and drive with an abundance of caution. The showers will give way to some sunshine for leeward and town neighborhoods by afternoon.

Windward and mauka areas will remain mostly cloudy most of the day.

Winds are light and variable but expected to line up out of the east at 10-15 mph by this afternoon and through much of Wednesday.

High today in Honolulu will be 82 degrees.

Country surf is down a notch this morning with a new swell forecast to take wave heights very close to warning levels later today.

The National Weather Service says peak sizes today will be 18 to 24 feet for north shores, 12 to 18 feet for west shores, 2 to 5 feet for east shores, and 1 to 3 feet for south shores.

A High Surf Advisory is up for north and west shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, and Molokai as well as north shores of Maui. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for all channels and windward coastal waters.
