HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Over the weekend, the trade winds were strong enough and here long enough blow away that vog, but they are gone again today.

Winds will be light and variable with sea breezes expected for form this afternoon. Lingering showers will dampen east, windward, and mauka neighborhoods this morning. Afternoon skies should be sunny, especially for leeward neighborhoods.

High in Honolulu today will be a warm 83 degrees.

Surf is building from a northwest swell today. The National Weather Service says surf will reach 16 to 22 feet for north shores, 10 to 15 feet for west shores, 3 to 5 feet for east shores, and 1 to 3 feet for south shores. A similar sized swell is due tomorrow night with a larger episode expected next weekend.

A High Surf Advisory is in effect for north and west shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, and Molokai and north shores Maui. A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for channels and windward coastal waters.
