HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - With their first sell-out crowd in more than a decade on hand, the Rainbow Warrior basketball team lost to Long Beach State on Saturday night, 78-64, at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Their first loss since December 23 of last year, the Rainbow Warriors were undone by LBSU's effort on the offensive glass; nearly a third of Beach points came on second chance opportunities, and LBSU scored 30 points in the paint against Hawaii.
The rest of LBSU's offense, it seemed, came from senior guard Nick Faust, who racked up a game-high 28 points on 10-for-16 shooting.
Forward Mike Thomas led Hawaii with 20 points. Junior guard Aaron Valdes, who returned to action on Saturday after missing several weeks with a foot injury, was scoreless from the field and finished with just 3 points in 19 minutes.
