HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The largest swell of the season is declining, and the High Surf Warning that was issued for most north and west-facing shores has been replaced with a High Surf Advisory.

The new surf advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Friday for north and west shores of Niihau, Kauai and Molokai as well as the north shores of Oahu and Maui.

Forecasters expect waves on the north shores to reach 14 to 18 feet Friday, subsiding to 10 to 14 feet Friday night.

On the west side, waves of 8 to 12 feet will subside to 6 to 10 feet on Friday.

Beachgoers can expect moderate, strong breaking waves with strong longshore and rip currents that make swimming difficult.
