Grand jury indicts man accused of setting girlfriend on fire

The man accused of setting his girlfriend on fire in Kahaluu was indicted Wednesday by a grand jury.

Bobby Young-Townsend, 25, was indicted on charges of attempted second-degree murder, second-degree arson, second-degree terroristic threatening, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.

Authorities said on Jan. 18, Young-Townsend was arguing with his girlfriend, 24-year-old Leilani Parado, in a van when he allegedly set her on fire. Young-Townsend has a criminal record and had just gotten out of jail 12 days prior to the incident.

His bail was confirmed at $1 million.
