Free tax assistance offered to low- to moderate-income Hawaii residents

The Hawaii VITA and Financial Empowerment Program will offer free tax assistance to low- to moderate-income Hawaii residents.

The tax assistance sessions will take place Saturday at 9 a.m. on the third floor of the state Capitol.

VITA provides free tax assistance to low- to moderate-income Hawaii residents, which results in an immediate savings to each taxpayer of at least $200. Since 2006, it has saved 32,674 Hawaii taxpayers more than $5.8 million in tax preparation fees.
