Forecast: Another giant swell on the way

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Another giant swell is on tap to overwhelm most north and west shores with life-threatening surf conditions. The swell is forecast to pick up by mid-morning Wednesday and peak overnight, then slowly decline through Thursday afternoon. Wave heights for north shores could top 45 feet. Ocean alerts will be posted ahead of the swell's arrival.

For now a High Surf Advisory posted for north and west shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu and Molokai... north shores of Maui... west shores of the Big Island until 6pm tonight.

Small Craft Advisory for most Hawaii waters due to large open ocean swells.

Weatherwise, the light wind pattern will hold until the weekend. Rainfall will be sparse with possible late day interior showers induced by the heat and humidity. Humidity levels will be elevated along with a buildup of vog and haze. Tradewinds are due back to clean things up over the weekend.
