The Hawaii State Department of Labor & Industrial Relations announced on Monday that the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Hawaii for December 2015 was at 3.2 percent, down from 3.3 percent in November and down from 4.0 percent from December 2014.

Out of a total seasonally adjusted labor force of 682,750, 660,600 people were employed while 22,150 people were unemployed in December.

Compared to December 2014, initial claims and weekly claims decreased by 20.3 percent and 27.1 percent respectively.

However, compared to November 2015, initial claims and weekly claims increased by 21.5 percent and 1.3 percent respectively.

The unemployment rate figures for the State of Hawaii and the U.S. in this release are seasonally adjusted, in accordance with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) methodology.
