New Hampshire (Hawaii News Now) -

Maya Tanida has moved from Kuapa Isle in Hawaii Kai to Sesame Street on the small screen and is "having so much fun" in her new role on the popular children’s program.

“It’s so fun, I got to meet all the characters like Rosita and Elmo and I got to cuddle with them,” Tanida said.

Sesame Street is in its 46th season on HBO and Tanida is featured in its new opening.

But this is not her first feature. Tanida adds Sesame Street to her resume amongst other gigs like spots in PBS Hawaii, a Toyota commercial, New York’s ‘My Little Pony’ and Marvel’s 'Jessica Jones.'

Tanida auditioned for the role last January and got  word from the show’s producers that she was cast in June. Her family says they were “shocked” and “beyond excited” for the opportunity.

The Tanida’s moved from Hawaii Kai to New Hampshire two years ago to be closer to family but still consider their place on Kuapa Isle home.

“I really miss being in Hawaii,” Tanida said. “I miss the warm weather, the beach and spam musubi.”

Tanida is set to appear in a February episode of Sesame Street.
