Animals are always able to find their way into the hearts of people and when Honolulu's shelter animals needed a helping paw, the girls of La Pietra came to their aid.
Over a dozen seventh grade students from La Pietra Hawaii School for Girls visited the Hawaiian Humane Society Thursday morning to drop off donations they had collected.
“We did this for the animals because we wanted to help them,” said Maddie Lee, the event’s organizer. “Our heart goes out to them so we wanted to support the abandoned animals and we just wanted to do something to help the community.”
The donations included nearly a hundred units of pet food and dozens of toys for both cats and dogs.
Lee says the donations were collected over a period of months.
In addition to the donation drop off the students were given the opportunity to tour the facility and show a little TLC to the dogs and cats awaiting their chance of adoption.
