The US Geological Survey released photos of volcanic activity at Pu'u 'O'o crater in Kilauea on Tuesday.

The photos include shots of colorful sulfur deposits that have formed around one of the cracks on the floor of the Pu'u O'o crater.

Aerial shots of the crater and the lava lake within can also be seen, as well as a hornito that formed over the lava tube on the north flank of the crater.

Scattered breakouts remain active northeast of Pu'u 'O'o, with the farthest active lava today 5.9 km (3.7 miles) from the vent on Pu'u 'O'o. Much of the activity is at or near the forest boundary, creating numerous areas of burning.
