Vigil planned for Colorado Marine in Hawaii helicopter crash

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - A candlelight vigil is being held in Colorado Springs for one of the 12 Marines missing after two helicopters crashed off Hawaii last week.

KKTV-TV reports that Sgt. Jeffrey Sempler, of Colorado Springs, is among those missing. Officials called off the search Tuesday after the crash on Thursday.

Sempler's mother Laurie Allen says she is still hopeful her son is alive. She says he is brave and signed up for the Marines when he was a junior in high school because he was told the Marines are the toughest of the armed forces.

A vigil is planned for Wednesday night in Fountain.
