KAHALUU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu police continue to search for the man accused of setting his girlfriend on fire in Kahaluu on Monday afternoon.

Bobby Young-Townsend was arguing with his girlfriend, 24-year old Leilani Parado, in a van about 2 p.m. on Lihakai Drive when he allegedly set her on fire.

Witnesses say Parado ran down the street with flames on her arms, back and legs. Neighbors helped her and called for 911.

"I am angry," said her grandmother, Cheryl Holland, "She's my oldest grandchild."

Holland says her granddaughter is heavily sedated and in the intensive care unit.

Young-Townsend has a criminal record that includes assault and drug crimes. He recently spent several days in jail for violating probation and had been released on January 6.

Holland says she never met her granddaughter's boyfriend, but says Parado often talked about him. "How much she loved him, and how she was heartbroken because he was locked up for three days," she said.
