Pepperdine men's volleyball team sweeps Rainbow Warriors in Malibu

Pepperdine University's 12th-ranked men's volleyball team swept Hawaii in straight sets on Friday night at the Firestone Fieldhouse, handing the Rainbow Warriors their first loss of the 2016 volleyball season. 

The 'Bows, currently ranked as the fifth-best team in the country, are now 3-1 on the year after losing 25-20, 25-20, 25-22.

Senior outside hitter Sinisa Zarkovic led Hawaii with 14 kills, hitting .320 in three sets. Freshman opposite Stijn van Tilburg added 12 kills of his own despite hitting .160.

Pepperdine was led offensively by Matt Tarantino, but the Waves outblocked Hawaii 11-3 over the three matches.

The teams will play against one another again tomorrow night.
