Forecast: Weak cold front brings clouds, showers

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A somewhat damp Aloha Friday will give way to a dry and mostly sunny weekend.

A weak cold front is bringing clouds and showers to the windward and northern areas of the smaller islands, but most of the rainfall should be relatively light. The front will dissipate over Oahu and Molokai tonight.

Drier conditions should prevail by Saturday afternoon, with pleasant weather expected for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend. Light winds will turn more northeasterly as the front weakens. Winds will lighten up again on Sunday and Monday with the approach of yet another front, which could reach the islands Tuesday.

A HIGH SURF WARNING remains posted for most north and west shores, with a HIGH SURF ADVISORY for west shores of the Big Island.
