A pretrial hearing will be held on Maui on Thursday for Major League Baseball star Jose Reyes, who pleaded not guilty to assaulting his wife in a hotel room at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea on Halloween.

Reyes, the shortstop for the Colorado Rockies, was arrested and charged for abuse of a family or household member, which happened around 2:30 p.m. on Halloween. According to sources, his wife, Katherine Ramirez, told responding officers that Reyes grabbed her off the bed and shoved her into the sliding glass balcony door. She was taken to the Maui Memorial Medical Center with injuries to her thigh, neck and wrist.

It’s unclear if Reyes will appear in court on Thursday. The last time a hearing was held, Reyes’ attorney entered the plea on his behalf.

If convicted, Reyes could face jail time. Major League Baseball could also suspend him under the league’s new domestic violence policy.
