WAIMEA, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Students at Waimea High School on Kauai were able to turn an unused dumping area into a productive farm in just four months.

With the help of donations from volunteers and businesses, they're growing taro, sweet potato tomato onion and several kinds of lettuces.

Their crop doesn't stop at vegetables. They even have nine aquaculture ponds to raise tilapia for food.

The students do most of the labor, learning the value of hard work.

The school is still welcoming donations. Click here to see the fruit of their hard work.
