Oklahoma man dies after kayaking off Molokai

MOLOKAI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

An Oklahoma native died after running into trouble off Molokai’s One Alii Beach Park on Sunday.

The victim was identified as 47-year-old Curtis Quillin.

Authorities said Quillin and a family member were kayaking when a wave knocked him over. The family member attempted to rescue Quillin, but another wave flipped her kayak over as well.

Fire rescue crews pulled both individuals to shore and conducted cardiopulmonary resuscitation on Quillin.

He was taken to Molokai General Hospital in critical condition but was later pronounced dead.
