The 25-year-old man arrested in connection with a woman's disappearance has been released pending an investigation.

Jhun Ley Irorita was arrested Monday night on suspicion of second-degree murder and resisting arrest.

He was released Wednesday about 11 p.m., apparently because police do not have enough evidence to charge him.

Police got an anonymous tip Monday about Irorita's whereabouts.

They responded to a home in Waipahu and spotted Irorita, who fled but was caught.

Irorita was wanted by police in connection with the murder of Helen Prestosa, 39, who was last seen about 7 p.m. on Nov. 19, 2015 in the Kalihi area, according to Honolulu CrimeStoppers.

Sources said the two were neighbors.

Police initially opened a missing person's case last year after Prestosa's family reported her missing Nov. 20, 2015. A Honolulu CrimeStoppers alert was then released for information on her whereabouts indicating that she had a medical condition and was in need of medication.

Authorities later determined that Prestosa was a victim of foul play, re-classified the case to a murder investigation and identified Irorita as a suspect.

Sources said there was evidence at her home that a violent attack happened and witnesses later told police Irorita admitted to killing her. Sources said Irorita has 16 prior arrests including terroristic threatening, theft, and criminal property damage.

Anyone with more information about the case is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
