International ukulele contest looks for contestants

Do you play ukulele? Then you may want to enter the International Ukulele Contest & Hula Show. It's part of the Ukulele Picnic in Hawaii’s annual three-day event. Interested Hawaii musicians can submit an entry form at www.ukulelepicnicinhawaii.org/contest/entry-form/ before January 15, 2016.

Participants can enter into one three categories including Solo Ages 13 and Below, Solo Ages 14 and Over and Group. There is no charge for Hawaii residents to enter. Twenty finalists will be selected to perform at this year’s 5th Annual International Ukulele Contest & Hula Show taking place February 13, 2016. The competition will take place at the Royal Hawaiian Center’s Royal Grove Stage from 10 a.m. – 1:20 p.m. with a hula show to follow from 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

The top three finishers in each category will each receive a luxury ukulele. Additionally, the best original song will be aired on KZOO for one year and the MVP performer will be invited to join the all-star lineup of ukulele performers on-stage at the Ukulele Picnic in Hawaii on Sunday, February 14 at Kakaako Gateway Park.

The International Ukulele Contest & Hula Show is part of this year’s annual Ukulele Picnic in Hawaii. The three-day event runs from February 12 – 14, 2016 with the grand finale taking place Sunday, February 14, at Kaka’ako Makai Gateway Park.
