Dan Cooke's forecast: Out-of-season tropical storm fuels warning-level surf

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Light winds, hazy skies today and probably all week. No trade winds for the foreseeable future. A few lingering morning showers, then mostly sunny for most of the day.

There will be a few pop-up clouds and showers over interior neighborhoods mid-afternoon. The atmosphere is very dry and stable.

High in Honolulu will be 81 degrees.

Surf remains large enough to extend the High Surf Warning for north and west shores through 6 p.m. this evening. A Small Craft Advisory is up for waters exposed to that large open-ocean swell.

The National Weather Service says waves today will be 18 to 25 feet for north shores, 12 to 20 feet for west shores, 3 to 5 feet for south shores and 1 to 3 feet for east shores.

The out-of-season south swell is due to energy coming our way from the out-of-season Tropical Storm Pali far to our southwest. Another warning-sized swell is due along country shores Friday.
