'Bows stay undefeated in conference with win over U.C. Santa Barbara

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

After winning six of their previous seven games by at least 10 points, the Rainbow Warrior basketball earned a narrow victory over U.C. Santa Barbara on Saturday night despite losing junior guard Aaron Valdes less than five minutes into the contest.

Hawaii's 65-57 win moves them to 13-2 on the season, and 2-0 in the Big West conference.

The live television broadcast of Saturday's game indicated Valdes suffered an ankle injury four minutes into the first half. He was taken to the locker room after the injury and did not return to the game.

His absence, though significant as the 'Bows prepare for their first conference road trip, did not prove to be dire for the Warriors. Isaac Fleming scored 22 points off the bench to pace Hawaii, which outscored UCSB by 9 points in the second half.

Stefan Jankovich added 19 points and 9 rebounds for Hawaii.
