BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The Big Island's 9-acre "Waterfalling Estate," originally listed in 2014 for $26.5 million, sold Friday for less than one-third of that price.

An unnamed buyer purchased the mega-mansion for $6.8 million, according to Hilo Brokers, Ltd.

Hilo Brokers owner Kelly Moran called the Hamakua Coast property the Big Island's premier oceanfront estate. And that's a hard point to argue.

The estate features a five-bedroom, five-bathroom mansion, Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis and basketball stadium, nine-hole golf course, running track, helicopter pad, and guest quarters. And of course, it's got its own waterfall.

Shortly after the home was listed in 2014 for $26.5 million, it was purchased at auction for $5.8 million.

The owners then put the home back on the market in April for $8.2 million.

Moran said the new owner intends to rent the home as an exclusive corporate retreat. The going rate? A mere $25,000 a week.

"This falls under the category of uber-luxe destinations," Moran said.
