Girl, 16, arrested on suspicion of assaulting police officers, promoting drugs

A 16-year-old girl was arrested in Chinatown on Thursday on suspicion of assaulting and harassing police officers and possessing drugs, according to the Honolulu Police Department.

Around 1:10 p.m., police stopped the girl who they suspected as a truant. But during the investigation, a struggle ensued and the teen allegedly assaulted several officers.

After she was taken to the main station, police said they found a marijuana pipe with residue on her. 

The teen was subsequently booked on several offenses, including second-degree assault, first-degree assault of a police officer and promoting a detrimental drug in the third degree. But she was later released pending investigation.

Her identity has not been released since she is a juvenile.
