Dan Cooke's forecast: Vog is in the air

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Throat scratchy? It's probably the vog. Yes, volcanic haze is thickening without trade winds to scrub the skies. If you have respiratory issues, take appropriate action.

Winds will be light and variable with ground heating creating sea breezes this afternoon. Interior and leeward neighborhoods will see some clouds form and perhaps pop-up showers after lunchtime.

High in Honolulu will be 82 degrees.

The surf will build along north and west shores today, reaching advisory heights by noon. In anticipation, the National Weather Service has posted a High Surf Advisory in effect from 12 p.m. today through 6 a.m. Saturday. A Small Craft Advisory will run concurrently beginning with coastal and channel waters at the west end of the island chain.
