PEARL CITY, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Police on Thursday have recovered the missing vehicle of murder victim Hoang Van Nguyen, who was found dead in his Hotel Street apartment last week.

Police arrested the driver of Nguyen's 2007 silver Toyota Camry, 25-year-old Emanuel Williams, for contempt after discovering an outstanding warrant for him from another state.

Information on the whereabouts of Nguyen's vehicle was requested this week in a Honolulu CrimeStoppers alert to the public on Tuesday.

Police say Nguyen was last seen in his car around 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 27, near the intersection of Hotel and River Streets.

Authorities were alerted to the missing car after someone called police around 3:45 a.m. Thursday to report a driver asleep behind the wheel inside the vehicle, which was stopped in the outside left-turn lane at Kamehameha Highway and Acacia Road.

Police arrived and arrested Williams.

Nguyen's vehicle has been towed to HPD's evidence lot for further forensic examination.

Detectives will be looking into how Williams came to be driving Nguyen's missing vehicle.

Anyone with more information on Nguyen's murder or his vehicle are asked to call CrimeStoppers at (808) 955-8300.
